Fact - It's been more than forty years since the eBook was invented - That's right - it's been forty years since Michael S. Hart created the first eBook. And now that the digital books have come into the mainstream, I was pleased to see the discover the 'Read an eBook Week', initiative. The event has already taken place for this year and was a great success, but now the event is becoming more widely known. And next year's event looks like being a truly global initiative.
Rita Toews, founder of Read an eBook Week, recently announced that the Canadian government think this is such a good idea that they are to extend the week to a month. While this proclamation doesn’t mean much in practical terms, it’s still
going to attract a lot of attention. Now more librarians and teachers
will learn of it and they will encourage students and patrons to crack
open an eBooks.
The next read an eBook event takes place next March and you can find details at the website HERE
You'll also find updates on the Archive as we fully intend the support Read and eBook Week.
