I agree that the film will stand up for some time to come. The fast editing is a bit irritating, but that's the way it goes these days. When Spock intones I have been and always shall be your friend, you really do need a thirty second pause to sigh a lot, not to blast on at warp 9 through another ten lines of dialogue.<br /><br />The cast though are all just close enough to be right, with McCoy especially being excellent. The only one that jarred with me was Chekov. He was always supposed to be the idiot who gets injured every time, but he most defintely was not a boy wonder genius.<br /><br />On continuity, it has all gone out the window with the alternate reality. Spock was supposed to have served under Pike for some time and Kirk was supposed to be the youngest ever captain, but I'm sure that didn't mean getting promoted while still at the Academy!I.J.
