Robery Downey Jr made a pretty good Sherlock Holmes and now the actor has his sights set on playing another famous detective - Variety reported that Downey Jr. and his wife Susan have joined forces
with Warner Bros. Pictures to develop a feature film, which is adapted
from Erle Stanley Gardner's detective fiction novel, "Perry Mason".
Downey Jr. and his wife will serve as the producers along with Robert Cort. Aside from producing it, the actor is also eyeing the project as a potential starring vehicle for him.
Meanwhile, the producers are still looking for a suitable scribe to pen
the script, which is based on an original story conceived by the "Iron Man" actor himself and David Gambino.
The "Perry Mason" novel tells the story of the irrepressible defense
lawyer who lives in the rough-and-tumble world of early 1930s Los
Angeles.

Hm.
This is news to me. I didn't like RDJ as Sherlock Holmes and I'm not so sure I'll like him as Perry Mason either. I'm not about to switch loyalties from Jeremy Brett and Raymond Burr. First Iron Man, then Holmes and now Mason — RDJ has got the box office formula right, hasn't he? Now where is Spielberg?
