HERE TO STAY BY MARK EDWARDS

I really enjoyed this book - reading it over two nights last week and being dragged in by the story. The author, Mark Edwards started out self publishing his work to sales that most other self pubbers can only dream of, but he was soon snapped up by Amazon's publishing company,Thomas and Mercer. And now with sales in the millions he's managed to build up a strong and loyal readership.

The plot here concerns a young man named Elliot who seems to have found the perfect wife in Gemma but when her parents and young sister come to stay Elliot soon discovers that he has the in-laws from hell.

It soon becomes clear to Elliot that his in-laws have no intention of leaving, and when he starts to dig into their past he realises that he is in very real danger. The book works so well, because it is excellently paced with the author drip feeding the reader as the pages turn. There's a pretty nifty twist at the end, and although I'd begun to suspect this before the big reveal it was none the less satisfying.

An highly accomplished slice of domestic noir.
