Heath Ledger footage not to be used in Batman 3

Chopped footage of Heath Ledger as The Joker will not be used in The Dark Knight Rises, producer Emma Thomas has said.There had been rumours that Christopher Nolan and Warner Brothers were thinking of including unused footage of the late actor as the Joker into the third instalment of the superhero franchise.

But Christopher's producing partner and wife Emma denied the stories, telling Heat Vision Blog: "I heard the rumour, we're not doing that."
Christopher revealed that the script for The Dark Knight Rises isn't even completed yet, and he believes that Heath's performance as the Joker should be contained to the 2008 movie.
The upcoming movie, and the final film in the saga, sees Christian Bale reprising his role as the Caped Crusader.
Inception actor and current favourite for the James Bond role, Tom Hardy is tipped to play a villain, while Sir Michael Caine is likely to return as Bruce Wayne's butler Alfred.

BATMAN 3D

The latest hot rumours are that Batman 3 will be presented in 3D despite Christopher Nolan earlier ruling this out -

“I’m not a huge fan of 3D, really. There is no question that if audiences want to watch films in stereoscopic imaging, that is what the studios will be doing and that is what I’ll be doing. The truth is, I think it is a misnomer to call it 3D versus 2D, because the whole point of cinematic imagery is that it is 3D imagery, we work in three dimensions. You know, 95% of our depth cues come from occlusion, resolution and so forth. So, the idea of calling a 2D film a 2D movie is a little misleading. I don’t know, we did test some of Inception in post-conversion processes and they worked very well. It is quite easy to do, in fact. But it takes a little time and we didn’t have time to do it up to the standards that I would have been happy with. But it was fascinating technology. On a technical level I think it is fascinating. There are just enormous compromises. Post-conversion processes are probably, for me, the way of the future. But, really it is up to audiences to decide what they want to see and how they want to watch their films. Certainly, I am quite pleased with Inception and the way it is presented – very bright, very clear. So, as the technology improves, those differences may change. Really, it’s going to be up to audiences.” Christopher Nolan

BATMAN THREE FILMING

The LA Times had the scoop - Christopher Nolan will start filming Batman 3 next March for release on July 20th 2012. Nolan has already revealed that he will not be bringing back The Joker, since Heath Ledger passed away after filming "The Dark Knight." The most recent rumor is that The Riddler will be the main villain and that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is being considered for the role.

Regarding the script, the idea came from Nolan who brought on David Goyer and brother Jonathan Nolan (Memento, The Dark Knight) to expand the story.

The hot rumour is that Johnny Depp will play The Riddler.

BATMAN 3 - SCREENPLAY DETAILS
