RIP A TRUE 20TH CENTURY ICON

I can vaguely remember the moon walk - I was only four years old in 1969 but it sticks in my mind(how could it not?), and I can recall being huddled around a small black and white TV set watching the amazing images as mankind, represented by true heroes, set foot on the moon.

 Rest in peace Neil Armstrong the first man to walk on the moon who has died at the age of 82, following complications after heart surgery.

Armstrong was not only an icon and a true hero, but, from all accounts, he was a genuinely nice guy.

I was in college during the landing, watching it with about a dozen other people. Everyone cheered when the craft landed, but when Armstrong stepped on the moon the room was instantly silent. A rare moment of awe and wonder.

His legacy will be hard to beat.
