Marvel Studios release details of a busy production level

 Marvel Studios via Disney this week issued a press release with the dates for four yet as untitled Marvel movies which brings the total forthcoming movies up to seven new releases.

Dates are:

• July 28, 2023
  
  
  
• October 6, 2023
• November 3, 2023
• February 16, 2024
• May 3, 2024
• July 26, 2024
• November 8, 2024

Speculation is that a new Fantastic Four movie will be among the titles coming to the cinema, as well as Avengers 4 and Captain America 4 and a third outing for Deadpool. It also a good bet that the long awaited Secret Wars movie will enter production - whatever the outcome there are plenty more superhero antics coming our way.

Sherlock tells tales, Star Wars writer confirmed and Tarantino says "fuck you" to Star Wars:

Benedict Cumberbatch, still best known as TV's Sherlock, despite high profile roles in the forthcoming Hobbit and Star Trek II (The Archive predicts his Star Trek character being Gary Mitchell and not Khan), but all the may change with his next role. Cumberbatch is to play controversial Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.

Michael Arndt, who went from Matthew Broderick's personal assistant to the Academy Award-winning screenwriter of Little Miss Sunshine in just seven years, was in talks with Lucasfilm to turn their treatment into a full-fledged script. And now it's official. StarWars.com has confirmed Arndt will write Star Wars: Episode VII. Producer Kathleen Kennedy and George Lucas himself have had story conferences with Arndt, and through them have become confident he is the best writer to tackle the next chapter in this still-expanding series. 

Quentin Tarantino when asked by Entertainment Weekly if he would like to direct the next Star Wars film if he was asked, the director snapped, .Fuck no. I'm not interested in a Star Wars by those Disney fuckers.' Well words to that affect anyway - his actual words were - "No, sorry. Especially if Disney’s going to do it. I’m not interested in the Simon West version of Star Wars." Tarantino then went onto confirm that he wasn't a fan of the Star Wars movies.

Batman to die, Cruise Reacher's towards Franchise City and pretty much every other hot movie rumour

Gwen Stacy to die in Spider-man reboot - at least that's what the current rumors would have us believe. It seems this news is popping up everywhere and is even mentioned in the current Sci-Fi Now magazine.

Iron Man 3 goes into production this month - Lethal Weapon 3 scribe, Shane Black is on scripting duties and it seems he is looking towards the Extremis storyline which was written by Warren Ellis. Ben Kingsley is slated to play the bad guy.

The Woman in Black is to get a 2 - the follow up entitled, The Woman in Black: Angels of Death is to be set 40 years after the events of the first movie.

The Reverend - the UK horror movie from Neil (Risen) Jones is soon to be given a DVD release. I recently chatted with the director and he revealed some interesting future projects, none of which can be revealed at the moment but rest assured The Archive will be right on the button when it comes to announcements.

The Hulk - reboot movie is to be fast tracked into production and will be released to coincide with The Avengers 2. And speaking of Avengers 2 it is rumored that Nick Cage will appear as Ghost Rider - groan.

One Shot title change - the movie starring Tom Cruise is now titled,  Reacher. The studio are hoping for a franchise out of this first movie adapted from Lee Child's successful thriller series.

Batman to die - Batman Rises is hotly tipped to end with the death of Batman in order to finish off Christopher Nolan's excellent trilogy. "What drew me to Batman in the first place was Bruce Wayne's story, and that he's a real character whose story begins in childhood. He's not a fully formed character like James Bond, so what we're doing is following the journey of this guy from a child who goes through this horrible experience of becoming this extraordinary character. That, for me, became a three-part story. Blade Runner 2 and other hot gossip

Interest in the forthcoming Bladerunner 2 has escalated now that director, Ridley Scott has signed onto helm the movie. Leonard DiCaprio is working on Harker which is a retelling of the Dracula storyline and Universal have just announced that their long gestating Dracula Year Zero is due to go into production. Actor, David Morrisey has just signed for a major part in season three of The Walking Dead. And we've also heard that Billy Connely has a role in The Hobbit. The Disney backed feature film of 1970's The Night Stalker looks like having Johnny Depp in the lead role as the crusading journalist. Warners are pinning their hopes on a live action version of, The Jetsons which is currently in pre-production. And Ghostbusters 3 may now be a reality though it's rumoured the Bill Murrey's role will be recast.

MGM IN BED WITH SONY

MGM and Sony Pictures Entertainment are partnering on several projects, from James Bond 23 (November 9, 2012) and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo to 21 Jump Street. MGM Co-Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum and Sony Pictures Chairman and CEO Michael Lynton and Co-Chairman Amy Pascal, had announced that they would partner on several projects over five years.

With 21 Jump Street and Dragon Tattoo—the first film adapted by Steve Zaillian in the three-picture film version of Stieg Larsson’s worldwide bestseller The Millennium Trilogy, directed by David Fincher and starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara—Sony will handle marketing and distribution, while MGM will handle select international television licensing.

In recent years, the two studios have collaborated on numerous films, including Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, 21, Yours, Mine and Ours, The Pink Panther, and the summer tent pole Kevin James comedy Zookeeper, which opens nationwide on July 8, 2011.

21 Jump Street is based on the television series, which focused on young cops with youthful appearances who work undercover in high schools and colleges. The TV series made the young Johnny Depp a star.  The film is being directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, from a screenplay by Michael Bacall based on a treatment from Hill and Bacall. Neal H. Moritz will produce the film with Stephen J. Cannell, who will receive posthumous credit.  The film is set to be released on March 16, 2012.

NEWS AND GOSSIP FROM THE SET

The Captain America movie has gone through another rewrite and is now ready to shoot - "We're definitely going to shoot it in a different way than any of the other Marvel pictures have been shot. What I'm trying to do is look at the comics, mostly the new ones, mostly the Brubaker series, and to interpret that sort of visual style into a film in a way that I think has been tried before but it always looks like it's a little too on the nose. It looks like, 'Oh, they're shooting a comic book movie.' I want to try something a little bit different." Joe Johnson, director

Early reviews on The Wolfman are mostly negative - The first reviews of this film are popping up, and they're mostly pretty damning — and full of spoilers. It's compared to, among other things, Ang Lee's Hulk, and one reviewer urges you to watch a Syfy original movie instead.

The 1970's monsters, the Silurians will be returning to Doctor Who - The stories have got a bit darker. I play twins, and they're big lizardwarrior women. They're one of the Silurian tribes that have been undisturbed under the earth. And of course we get disturbed. It's the first time I've worn prosthetics but I'm still recognisable if you know me well enough. But there'll probably be lots of people going, 'Who the hell is that?' Actress, Neve Mcintosh

The Archive can reveal that John Carter of Mars will be shooting in the UK next week.

The rumours that MGM/Sony or whoever owns the rights this week, are looking to re-cast the role of James Bond have been denied. The Archive thinks that given the mess that was QOS, maybe there's no smoke without fire.

JONAH HEX MOVIE POSTER REVEALED AND OTHER MOVIE NEWS

The scars on the Jonah Hex character in the movie poster certainly look better than the set pictures we posted - in those pics Josh Brolin looked like he had a minor skin rash but in the poster the level of facial trauma does actually mirror the comic book character. If this doesn't carry over to the screen I, and many other no doubt, will feel deeply cheated.

It has been announced that the movie Resident Evil 4 (is anyone waiting for this one?) will be in 3D - Expect tag lines like, 'A new dimension in fear'

Also due in 2010 is the revamp of old Freddy Krueger, originally played by Robert Englund but now with Jackie Elan wearing the fedora. The Teaser poster (shown here) doesn't reveal much of Krueger's face, no doubt to build anticipation for the eagerly awaited splatterfest.

Another supernatural western goes into production - Ghost Town. Filmmaker James Moll, who is behind the story of a haunted theme park said, "It's the perfect setting for a big, spooky, family adventure with all the elements of a classic Western: cowboys, showgirls, gunfights, chases through creepy mines... all with a supernatural twist, "

It seems supernatural oaters may be the next stage in the western's continued journey back into the mainstream of public consciousness. Oh, I said that last bit.
