Flumageddon
It's that time of year - the weather's been up and down and I'm ill with flu - not the swine variety, but the good old feel like shit, nose running, head burning, kind. I can't even read since I keep sneezing over the pages and making the pages all gooey. Yuck!

TRUE GRIT 2010 RELEASE DATE 25 DEC 2010
It's a great Christmas present for all us western fans - The Coen's version of True Grit is currently shooting and will be released this Christmas day. The film now has a page at the IMDB with full cast lists. Find it HERE

The long, thick handle of the flashlight made a comforting weight when Dena's fingers gathered it in. She didn't turn it on yet, though. Her mind shrieked for a look down the hall but she didn't want to be holding the flash when it lit. That would only shout out her own location. She stepped into the closet and knelt, laying the Maglite on the hall floor. Then she switched it on and quickly stood up amid the clutter. One glimpse down the hallway made her wish she'd left things in the dark. The drip she'd heard didn't come from the rain.

TESCO - WILL PROTECT US
Not content with dominating almost every avenue of the retail trade in th
e UK, putting the farmers out of work, closing the pubs and selling books for next to nothing, supermarket giant Tescos have now taken it upon themselves to become censors.
Recently they took the Manic Street Preachers album, Journal for Plague Lovers from all their stores because of the cover image - Tesco claimed the cover showed a young girl who had been left blood stained after a beating by bullies. Other dumb-arse retailers - Morrisons, ASDA and Sainsbury's also followed Tesco's lead.
However the cover image, which actually shows a girl born with a port-wine stain birthmark, has just come second in a best cover art poll. The cover makes a statement that people born with facial disfigurements should not be treated differently.
It is also interesting that in Tesco's DVD charts they have a title called - Inglorious .

THE SWEENEY MOVIE ON HOLD
This is a disappointment to me - I was a huge fan of the cult B
ritish cop show, The Sweeney and was looking forward to the new movie which would have starred Ray Winstone in John Thaw's old role.
Winstone recently told Digital Spy that the film has been shelved because of financing. The actor said this was always happening in the film business and it seemed unlikely that the film would ever get made, at least with him in the leading role. A blow indeed since Winstone seems perfect for the part.
However director, Nick Love insists that this is a set back but that the film will get made.
Only time will tell, I guess.
