THE SWEENEY MOVIE ON HOLD

This is a disappointment to me - I was a huge fan of the cult British cop show, The Sweeney and was looking forward to the new movie which would have starred Ray Winstone in John Thaw's old role.

Winstone recently told Digital Spy that the film has been shelved because of financing. The actor said this was always happening in the film business and it seemed unlikely that the film would ever get made, at least with him in the leading role. A blow indeed since Winstone seems perfect for the part.

However director, Nick Love insists that this is a set back but that the film will get made.


Only time will tell, I guess.
