TA: What do you hope to achieve with Solstice?
KA: As our name depicts, Solstice plans to be the Turning Point in great fiction. We will recruit the best authors and produce the highest quality of fiction books available in both ebook format and print. Our strength lies in the ebook publishing world but we also provide print books for our author's who need that security for their readers. We are proud of international host of authors and besides the United States we have authors from many other countries including Spain, England, Australia, Canada and more. We hope to continue our global expansion and bring ebooks to readers all over the world.
TA: The electronic reading revolution is moving at a pace. Do you think it will change the way we read?
KA: Absolutely. With the invention of all the electronic reading devices such as Kindle, Nook, Sony Ereader, and the IPAD readers like the ease of downloading a book from anywhere and taking it with them wherever they happen to be. They can be sitting on the beach and download a great book right from their device. Ebooks also are about as "Green" as it comes saving the destruction of our beautiful forests. On a more practical side ebooks eliminate the need for storage and warehouse fees for publishers allowing them to keep books available and in print for years to come. Gone are the days of books being out of print.
TA: Solstice are actively seeking new writers. What do you look for in a good story?
KA: We are actively seeking authors who write in all genres of fiction. We look for a lovingly edited manuscript with a well developed plot and strong believable characters. We look for authors who have worked to perfect their craft into a book readers will not be able to put down.
TA: What are you preferred genres?
TA: What are you preferred genres?
KA/: We take all genres of fiction including Romance( Including erotic romance), Paranormal, Action/Adventure, Mystery, Horror, and SciFi/Fantasy
TA: Do you expect writers to get involved in their own publicity?
KA: In this day and age every publisher needs their authors to be actively involved in their own publicity. We expect our authors to be very actively involved in the promotion of their novel. A book isn't going to sell if no one knows it's there. Our authors are active with blog interviews, radio interviews, their own facebook/twitter/myspace pages, and have their own websites. Not only are our authors proud of their books but they enjoy being a part of Solstice Publishing and are helping us spread the word.
TA: Explain the process from accepting a MSS to the eventual eBook.
KA: This of course is my favorite part of the process. Being Editor in Chief gives me the privaledge of offering contracts to those submissions that fall within our guidelines. It takes a lot of hard work to pass muster but once you do the process is fairly simple. I offer the contract to the author and once that is received we begin the process. A cover art request is generated and sent to our cover artist. The manuscript is forwarded by me to one of our many talented editors on staff. They work directly with the author to develop the manuscript into the best possible work it can be. Once finished we format the book into the formats necessary for both our website and the other ebook stores where Solstice books are offered. The entire process can take several months depending on the number of books our editors are working on at any given time. My motto "Don't rush a great thing!"
TA: Where will Solstice titles be on sale?
KA: What is wonderful about Solstice is you can buy all our ebooks directly from our site alone. We offer pdf formats that can be downloaded to your computer and the Sony Ereader. We also sell on Amazon.com, Smashwords.com, Coffeetime Romance.com and a few other retailers. Come visit our site www.solsticepublishing.com today and look at our Bargain Box containing books under $2, and the great collection of books from all our authors, as well as some free reads for your enjoyment.
