OLD CRAGGY FEATURES RECIEVES AWARD - AND NOT BEFORE TIME

ERNEST BORGNINE, the veteran actor and star of countless films, many of them westerns is to be rewarded with a Lifetime Achievement Award -

The 93-year-old OSCAR winning actor has appeared in over 200 films since his acting debut, and he still continues to perform. In 2009 he appeared in the finale of medical drama ER, and his new film Red, starring HELEN MIRREN and MORGAN FREEMAN, will hit cinemas in October.
KEN HOWARD, president of the Screen Actors Guild, said, "Whether portraying brutish villains, sympathetic everymen, complex leaders or hapless heroes, Ernest Borgnine has brought a boundless energy which, at 93, is still a hallmark of his remarkably busy life and career", adding that the actor possessed, "boundless energy". The actor follows in the footsteps of CLINT EASTWOOD, ROBERT REDFORD, and KIRK DOUGLAS, who have also been recipients of the coveted award.
Despite his fervent work ethic, Borgnine's personal views have often raised eyebrows. In 2006, when speaking about the OSCAR nominated film Brokeback Mountain, he told EntertainmentWeekly, "I didn't see it and I don't care to see it. I know they say it's a good picture, but I don't care to see it", adding, "If John Wayne were alive, he'd be rolling over in his grave!"
He will collect the award at the 17th annual ceremony in Hollywood on 30th January 2011.
