During the early days of cult comic, 2000AD Flesh was one of the most popular stories - despite it's Sci-Fi trappings it was basically a western set in prehistoric times. Flesh first appeared as part of 2000AD's opening line up The series was set in the age of dinosaurs who were farmed for their meat by cowboys from a future where most animal life was extinct. The series was initially planned by Mills to be in Action, but after that title suffered censorship, Mills held the story back for his next project which eventually became 2000AD. The story which saw the dinosaurs turn on the humans ran for nineteen issues and even although it was massively popular it was not mentioned again until the Judge Dredd story, The Cursed Earth in which dinosaur Satanus was said to have been cloned from Ol One Eye, the Tyrannosaurus from Flesh.
Flesh Book Two followed with issue 86 and ran until issue 99. Other Flesh stories followed from time to time - And this week's issue of 2000AD features an all new Flesh series. I haven't bought 2000AD for years - the last time I picked up the comic was to follow that last Savage storyline. Guess I'll be following the new Flesh series too.
