Former "James Bond" star Pierce Brosnan fears he let down 007 fans, because he never lived up to his iconic predecessors Sir Sean Connery and Sir Roger Moore.
Brosnan played the super spy four times before Daniel Craig replaced him in 2004, for Bond's "Casino Royale" and sequel "Quantum of Solace."
But the Irish actor is convinced his portrayal isn't a memorable part of the franchise.
He tells VeniceMag.com, "I never felt that I really nailed it. There was always a hint of Sean Connery and Roger Moore that was so indelible in my own mind. It's a prestigious group to be in the company of."
Can't say the Archive agrees with Pierce there - I'll always rate Brosnan's Bond as one of the best.

I agree, Gary. After a gap of a few years, Brosnan and Goldeneye reinvigorated the franchise; though as I recall, it's said the film makers went back to the drawing board after seeing James Cameron's True Lies...
I actually liked Brosnan pretty well myself. I sort of liked the more serious turn the series took when he became Bond.
When the criminally underappreciated Dalton's serious take on Bond confused audiences raised on Roger Moore's lighter one, Brosnan was the guy who combined elements of the two most famous Bonds -- obviously Connery and Moore -- into something either camp could appreciate, Brosnan has a secure, important place in the franchise.
That said, to me all Bonds who aren't Sean Connery are to some degree place holders. Even the very strong Craig.
Max - I agree with you on Dalton. I think The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill are excellent.Mind you I really don't like Craig in the role.
Brosnan was not my least favorite Bond. That's reserved for Moore. Dalton would be in line behind Connery and just ahead of Lazenby. Craig would be next I suppose. I've only seen the Barry Nelson Casino Royale once and hated it. The musical version was notable for me only because of Herb Alpert.
