CAN YOU SOLVE THE COWBOY MYSTERY

In an earlier post HERE I wrote about a novel by Norman Fox and stated that the author was originally Luke
Short - my reason for stating this was that the copyright inside the book goes to Luke Short and it also states previously published as by Luke Short. However I've recieved and email from Keith Chapman AKA western writer Chap O'Keefe - a good friend and someone very knowledgeable on the paperback world since he spent most of his life in the business in one form or another. He is also of course responsible for some superb westerns himself.

Here's the email:
I'm not infallible on such matters, but western
author Luke Short was
definitely Frederick Dilley Glidden (1908-1975),
whose brother Jonathan
(1907-1957) wrote as Peter Dawson.

Norman Fox was actually Norman Arnold Fox
(1911-1960 -- why do so many
writers die young?), who was most influenced as a writer by Ernest Haycox.

Now I trust Keith's word but can anyone clear up this mystery -
if Normal Fox wasn't Luke Short then how does the copyright here state Luke Short?
The dedication in the book reads to my brother Sergeant Joe Fox and his outfit
the fourth marine division.

Can anyone clear this up?
Was the name Norman Fox used by more than the one writer???

Keith also sent me artwork from another edition of the book.

The cover I sent, and which Gary runs above, is from the fantasticfiction website (well worth a visit for those who don't know it). It looks to be from the original, US paperback published in 1944 by Popular Library/Thrilling Novels.
