First Lady of the West
Under the pseudonym of Amos Carr, Jill McDonald-Constable
has written numerous westerns for the Robert Hale Ltd Black Horse
Western series. A passionate writer for many years, she tells us why she
loves the western genre and just how she ended up being given an Indian
name herself. READ THE FULL PIECE AT ROBERT HALE BOOKS BLOG HERE

Not the "first" lady author of Black Horse Westerns in the time sense, of course. Since the Hale series began in its present style in 1986, women writers have been behind the following BHW bylines: Tex Larrigan, Curt Longbow, Newton Ketton, James O. Lowes, Stephen Gray, Terry Murphy, T. M. Dolan, Ty Kirwan, M. Duggan, Amy Sadler, Gillian F. Taylor, Eugene Clifton, Terry James, M. M. Rowan. That's off the top of my head. There are probably others I've forgotten or never knew about. Apologies!
I'd just like to let you know, that the picture shown here is of the cover of my second book which is not due out until October. MY first is entitled 'The Ghosts of Poynter' and came out at the end of June. And thank you for letting us know about the other lady authors who have used male names to make their trails in a male dominated scene. Jill.
