Spock to die all over again: Star Trek: Into Darkness

The Sun newspaper is today reporting that Benedict Cumberbatch is playing Khan  in Star Trek:Into Darkness and the IMDB in its cast list also list Cumberbatch's character as Khan.
The first trailer (above) promises an action packed movie, but all this nonsense over Cumberbatch's character is getting tiresome - is he Khan or is he Gary Mitchell?

Cumberbatch when interviewed by Entertainmentwise was careful not to name his character.

"He is very ruthless… He is not a clearly good or evil character. He is a villain but the actions he takes has intent and reason."  Benedict Cumberbatch.

What is interesting is that a longer trailer was released to the Japanese market and it seems to end with a scene which mirrors the scene in Wrath of Khan where Spock gives his life to save the crew. That trailer can be seen HERE

We already know that actor, Zachary Quinto is not going to play Spock again after Into Darkness, since the actor recently told Entertainment Weekly that he wanted to explore other avenues.

"I want to go in a different direction after Star Trek. It’s like an era of association with certain roles—a specific part like Spock, or a kind of part, like Sylar—is coming to an end.” Zachary Quinto

So on what we have seen and heard it would seem that Cumberbatch is Khan and that once again Spock is to die.
