This is the front page of The Daily Mirror for Saturday April 20 1912 and the lead story is the sinking of the ocean liner, The Titanic. The newspaper was priced at one half penny.
The newspaper informs that out of 903 members of the crew, only 210 have survived. This is a particular blow for Southampton where the majority of men lived. It tells us that a list of the surviving crew was placed up in the White Star offices in Southampton.
As you would expect every single page of the newspaper is dominated by the sinking with very little other news making the issue. It is interesting to look through these old newspapers and by clicking on any of the images you can get an enlarged, readable version.
