EASTWOOD STILL TOP OF THE PACK

Clint Eastwood's new movie has put the craggy faced actor back where he belongs.

EASTWOOD's latest directorial/acting offering GRAN TORINO shot straight to the top of the U.S. box office - taking in $29 million (GBP19.3 million) on its opening weekend (09/11Jan09).
The legendary Hollywood star's drama about a racist veteran of the Korean War had a phenomenal pull at the theatres - making it the biggest opening movie of Eastwood's career.
Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson's comedy Bride Wars took the number two spot, scooping $21.5 million (GBP14.3 million) in box office revenue. Horror movie The Unborn came a close third with $21.1 million (GBP14 million).
Ex-husband and wife Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt took the fourth and fifth positions, with their movies Marley + Me and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button taking $11.4 million (GBP7.6 million) and $9.4 million (GBP6.2 million) respectively.
