In a turn similar to Community star Donald Glover's bid to become the first black Spider-Man in Marc Webb's Untitled Reboot, boxer-turned-actor David Haye is hoping to become the first black 007 in James Bond 23. Don't hold your breath too long, though. Glover, who was well equipped to play Peter Parker, eventually lost out to Andrew Garfield. Haye is more than likely facing a similar fate in winning the highly coveted role of 007.
MGM recently announced that it hopes to have James Bond 23 in theaters by November of 2012. Which means that production will likely start sometime in 2011. With Daniel Craig currently committed to all three chapters of The Millinium Trilogy, starting with the now-in-production The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, it is unclear if he will be able to return to the role that made him a household name. MGM is considering a replacement, with David Haye actively pursuing the part.
When asked about his aspirations to take over the project if Craig is unable to return, British born Haye told The Sun, "I've always been a fan of the action hero. Schwarzenegger was my hero growing up and obviously you've got Sylvester Stallone as Rocky. Me? I wouldn't mind James Bond. Yes, the first black James Bond definitely appeals."
