THE RETURN OF THE SAINT...well, maybe
A hot, but unconfirmed rumours doing the rounds is that Dougray Scott is to play Simon Templer for a revived Saint TV series. Scott was also linked to James Bond before Daniel Craig got the part. However from what I understand the rumours that Dougray will play Templer look likely to be true. And have even been hinted at on the official Leslie Charteris fan club.
Now this I'd like to see.

The original publishers used to promote the Saint as "the Robin Hood of modern crime". And like Robin Hood and all good legends, this character looks like he'll live for ever! As a few people know, I'm a Simon Templar fan from way back. At the age of nine, I "borrowed" my dad's adult library ticket so I could read all the books without depleting my sixpence-a-week pocket money. As a teenager, I had the privilege of doing original script work for a Saint comic book. Today, as some fans have noted, there's more than a touch of the Saint in a resourceful young rebel and rascal called Misfit Lil.
I was actually a member of The Saint club when I was a kid. Though I didn't read the original novels until I was an adult and was amazed to find how hardboiled some of them were. The Saint in New York is a brutal book.
Leslie Charteris fan club?
Official web site for him maybe. But not his fan club. It's run by The Saint Club--now in its 73rd year!
