The release of True Grit has been brought forward in the US, which now makes this hotly anticipated film only a little over a month away. It is reported that the studio were delighted by the rough cut of the movie and see it as a big contender in the vital Christmas market.
Paramount has moved the picture's American release date forward by three days, from December 25 to December 22, pitting it against a crop of other big festive releases including Gulliver’s Travels and Little Fockers.The studio is so impressed by the finished film that it is keen to build buzz amongst audiences going into the Christmas weekend.
True Grit stars Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, Barry Pepper and newcomer Hailee Steinfeld, and is already being touted as an Oscar favourite.
