bert Zemeckis are to remake the Beatles animated classic Yellow Submarine as a Pixar- style 3D computer generated movie. This is utter bollocks - Yellow Submarine works because it was a product of its time, a bizarre acid influenced, snap shot of rock music's transition into a true art form. I've got one thing to say to the house of the mouse - get your greedy hands off this classic that deserves to be frozen in time.The 21st century version of the Fab Four’s animated adventure will be directed by Robert Zemeckis, the man behind Back To The Future, Forrest Gump (the most vomit inducing film ever) and Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
Disney intends to release the film to coincide with the 2012 London Olympics.
The studio is in advanced negotiations over the project, according to Variety, with talks focusing on the rights to use 16 Beatles’ tunes, including Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, All You Need Is Love and Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Actors would voice the characters of John, Paul, George and Ringo, just as they did in the 1968 original. The plot involves the band attempting to save the undersea paradise of Pepperland from the music-hating Blue Meanies. The original story was written by Lee Minoff, with dialogue by poet Roger McGough, and based on the title song by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
The band made a live-action cameo appearance in the final scene of the 1968 film.
The new version of Yellow Submarine will be made in performance-capture 3-D, a medium explored by Zemeckis in The Polar Express, Beowulf and the forthcoming Jim Carrey vehicle A Christmas Carol.
The use of 3-D technology is being touted as the future of Hollywood cinema, with James Cameron’s soon-to-be-released Avatar generating the biggest cinematic buzz of the year.

It pains me to say this but I am in full support of what you say.
I have seen it - and that is the way it should be seen.
At last! Someone who dislikes Forrest Gump as much as I do. And you're right. Remaking Yellow Submarine makes no sense at all.
Granted Forest Gump is a sickening travesty and I am still bitter that Pulp Fiction was robbed; but I actually think Yellow Submarine in 3D could be a really cool Psychedelic Beatles experience. And it's not like the original will cease to exist as a result of a remake. Kid's will love it too.
