The Rise of the Self Publisher: 7 million and counting

Author, Louise Ross gave up a well paid job in financial law to to concentrate on crime writing, and the gamble paid off with more than 7 million copies of her books sold to date. Louise didn't go the traditional way of the author but instead did everything herself, - well with a lot of help from her truly supportive husband. It was actually he who urged Louise to go down the self publishing route.

Louise did have an offer of publication from a mid-sized traditional publisher but she felt that she was given away a lot of her intellectual property.

At first Louise was sceptical of self publishing through Amazon, feeling that it was the high-tech version of vanity publishing but the more she looked into it the more she realised that it was truly independent publishing.

Louise published her first book, Holy Island on the  Amazon platform in January 2015 and at first sales were slow, but by May of that year it was number 1 in the Kindle store, knocking Paula Hawkins from the top spot. DAILY SALES at that point were around 4 thousand eBooks

When recently asked what was the secret to her success Louise said, 'Chocolate and Coffee.'

The Archive hopes to talk to Louise about her success in the near future.

The Archive will post a review of Louise's breakthrough book, Holy Island later this week.
