Farrah Fawcett - The all American girl also died on the 25th June and her passing was overshadowed in the media by Jackson's death. She died after a brave fight with cancer aged 62.
Stephen Gately - singer with boyband, Boyzone died in October from natural causes (sic). He was aged only 33
Natasha Richardson - spirited actress died after an head injury on 18 March. She was just 45 years old.
Sir Bobby Robson - soccar legend died in July. Aged 76
Danny La Rue - cross dressing comedian died in his sleep aged 81 in June.
JG Ballard - highly respected and world famous writer died in April aged 78
Bea Arthur - TV's Golden Girl died this April
Karl Malden - legendary actor died in July aged 97
Elmer Kelton - western writer died in August after a long illness.
Gene Barry - American film and TV actor passed away at the age of 90
Richard Todd - noted British actor and war hero died age 90
