RIDLEY SCOTT TO RETURN TO THE ALIEN FRANCHISE
Fox are expected to announce later this month the Ridley Scott is to return to the Alien franchise for a prequel to the sci-fi films. Fox would only green light the project if Scott returned the helm the ailing franchise. There has been no official announcement but those in the know, a source at Fox, has assured me that this is a done deal.

That looks like pairing an ailing director with an ailing franchise.
I'm not sure what can be done with it. It seems to be beating a dead horse.
The last I'd heard Scott was being mentioned as Producer. I can't see like the others that this is a way forward. The main strength of the Alien films (the proper ones) was that each film had a different director and a different vision.
