WHAT A HAUL

Just got back from Borders Llantrisant - their official closing date is 8 August but there'll be no stock left well before then. This little haul pictured here came to £42.90 - a bargain but I'm gutted at the loss of the store. I spoke to a member of staff who asked me how I felt about all this, being a regular customer - I told him it sucks. He pretty much agreed.

The store was always busy and the closure is a complete shock. I'm gonna miss my local Borders.

The last town I lived in had no decent book store, so I've gotten in the habit of ordering most of my books online. But everytime I walk into a book store now I realize what I'm missing. So where will the closest one to you now?

Not too far but this one was on my doorstep

Brighton Rock! There's a good movie. A newly restored 35mm print came through New York last month - terrific. I love Graham Greene, but haven't read this novel of his before.

Can't go wrong with Richard Stark. Especially since that is also the last Parker novel. Those Dark Tower books look really nice also.

I remember going to Dillons bookstore in Birmingham years ago, where they had a reading room with a coffee machine. It was amazing. Bookstores should be made more of, not closed. I agree with you, it is a tragedy.
