Double D

Don't miss this - tonight BBC1 9pm

If this one off is a success, then the chances are there will be a series, writer John Sullivan has revealed. He also cleared up why the original title of Sex, and drugs and rock had chips was replaced.

" In this digital world on TV listings – iphone listings – sky plus etc they tend to abbreviate titles automatically – if they did this on the title it would say SEX, DRUGS only – not really appropriate. Also there is the Ian Drury thing coming out so it’ll avoid clashing with that.If you think back to Only Fools when that title first was used everyone said what does that mean – Rock n Chips will have the same effect" John Sullivan OBE

Here's a picture of both Del Boys and another of the entire cast of the Fool and Horses prequel. Don't miss this.

Yikes. Thanks for the warning. I have a complete humour by-pass as regards Only Fools. I think I had a mild titter once about 1982, but I'm at a loss to work out why this is so popular. As far as I can make out the only person enjoying the show is the man with his finger on the canned laughter machine.

Just watched it tonight, and it was rather poignant - but my first thought was that as Nick Lyndhurst is getting older, his eyes are getting closer together!
Good to see Gareth Gwenlan still doing it though - he used to head up my bbc writers group back in the day.

Caught the last thirty minutes of an old ep this afernoon, and recognized an old friend I haven't seen in quite a while. Forgot he used to do extra work on the show when it was filmed in Bristol, funnily enough, just around the corner from where we do Casualty now, Gary.....
