WEIRD WESTERNS GALLOP BACK

Remember Weird Western Tales, the comic that gave is Jonah Hex - well DC have brought back three defunct titles for a one off special issue and Weird Western Tales in one of these.

Weird Western Tales is number issue 71 - the original comic ran for 59 issues but the first issue was numbered issue 12 because the title followed on from the second volume of All Star Western. So this issue follows on from issue 59 which was numbered issue 70 - confused, me too, but read on.

For its first original issue in 30 years, writer (and DC Editor in Chief) Dan Didio and artist Renato Arlem give us a truly strange tale revolving around Joshua Turnbull, who has been charged by a wealthy benefactor with uncovering the secrets behind a purloined Black Lantern ring. There is also the return of Scalphunter.

Imagine Tales from the Crypt in a western setting and you've more or less got the feel of Weird Western Tales - editor, Dan Didio told industry insiders that these special issues were testing the water for a hopeful relaunch of Weird Western Tales.

The Archive remember the original comic book very well and can only say - Yippie, Happy days are here again.
