The sudden death of Amy Winehouse grants her membership of a very select club - the 27 club. It's not a club most would want to join, though one could say that people are dying to get in. A bad taste crack granted but the 27 Club requires its members to have died at the age of 27, and it boasts an impressive list of rock stars in its membership.
Brain Jones
Kurt Cobain
Jimmi Hendrix
Janis Joplin
Jim Morrison
Robert Johnson
Pete Ham
and now Amy Winehouse
In fact in the case of Kurt Cobain's suicide there is a theory that the reason the troubled star took his own life was that he wanted entry to this most select of clubs. His mother made a statement that she had begged him not to join that stupid club, which is enough evidence to prove that Cobain talked about the club.
